Hawthorn & Aster is a queer, women owned digital marketing company that offers a wide array of pre-publication services and social media solutions. We are authors and assorted bookish professionals who take the success of our authors personally. We want to see our authors thrive in this highly competitive space.

More than that, we seek to diversify the romance space, and elevate otherwise underrepresented voices. We believe that diversity and inclusion can only flourish if space is made for it.

  • Ivy (She/Her)

    LEAD CREATIVE AND BUSINESS STRATEGIST | MARKETING, WEB DESIGN, BOOK COVERS, BOOK INTERIORS, BETA/SENSITIVITY READING

    I’ve been a passionate advocate for diversity in literature for nearly half a decade, now. I first started working in marketing under Hawthorn & Aster’s predecessor where I developed a greater love of assisting self-published and indie authors curate their brands and making their publishing goals come to life. I have worked closely with authors in all arenas; designing their websites and logos, formatting their books and creating the book covers. My greatest pleasure in life is helping authors achieve their bookish dreams.

    Hello Lovely People! I am Jasmine Thorne. I am a crazy cat mom of 2 little demon spawns and I am the token Canadian member of the team! I am a full time Massage Therapist and part time graphic designer. I love making pretty templates for our authors and I look forward to working with you all!

    AUTHOR SUPPORT SPECIALIST | PA, BETA READER & PROOFREADER, NEWSLETTERS

    I’m married to my own personal book boyfriend. I’m also a mom of 2 (one and one, I’m done). I’ve always loved reading, but started seriously reading romance books at the end of 2020 and quickly became addicted. I signed up for many as many ARCs as I could handle, but wanted to be more hands on in helping indie authors. I now PA for a few indie authors and started my proofreading business to help authors make their books as perfect as possible.

    With more than eight years of experience in editing and proofreading, I adhere to the Chicago Manual of Style and rely on Webster’s Collegiate Dictionary, Eleventh Edition, to deliver exceptional quality in every project. Based in Montana, I am passionate about my work as an editor and take pride in helping clients communicate effectively.

  • Jasmine BE (She/Her)

    DEVELOPMENTAL & LINE EDITOR

    I love love love reading. I can usually read a book in a day or so if it’s just for fun. In the past few years, I’ve decided to turn this hyperfocus toward helping authors become confident and proud of their work. I grew up in the USA, but I’m Canadian and currently live in Ontario. I have also had the privilege to live in Scotland for a few years. So, I am more comfortable with the different nuances between the different versions of English. I enjoy reading Romance and Fantasy novels that tend to have dark (or pitch-black) themes, high levels of spice, and usually “why choose/RH”. I offer developmental/structural and line/stylistic editing. My favourite thing about being an editor is seeing the transformation of the authors and their self-confidence. I know that sounds cliche, but it’s true.
